SENIOR / STAFF ACCOUNTANT, Greater Hartford Area
Our client is a major Fortune 500 Energy Company with several positions in Accounting and offers a top compensation package including: great career track, strong salary, excellent work/life balance and no travel.
Responsibilities:
- Involved with the preparation of the financial data for the company.
- These responsibilities include functions associated with monthly closing process (journal entries, error correction, special billings, etc.).
- Additional responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and various special projects.
- The Senior Accountant role also has supervisory responsibilities for a defined team of accountants including coaching and mentoring of less experienced accountants.
- Compensation $49K to $93K / yr depending on experience.
Requirements:
- Senior Accountant requires 5 - 8 years of experience.
- Staff Accountant requires 2 - 5 years experience.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related degree is required.
- An MBA or CPA is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice is required; specific experience with FERC and SEC accounting is preferred.
- Experience in a regulated utility environment is a plus.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Senior Accounting position supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge/experience with Management Information Base (MIB) systems.
- Strong overall computer skills with emphases on Excel.
- Candidate must be able to work for any employer in U.S
